Attention Musicians Crossing International Boarders

Attention Musicians Crossing International Boarders:

There are new rules that apply when crossing international borders with musical instruments containing protected species, such as ivory, rosewood, tortoise shell. The AFM is hosting a webinar with the American Federation of Violin and Bow Makers, League of American Orchestras, The Recording Academy, and NAMM on Wednesday, December 7 at 12:00 noon Eastern. The free, one-hour webinar will give an overview of new rules and take your questions. Register here.

Experts from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the agency that implements the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in the United States, will be featured. The event will review the basics and also provide important insights into the U.S. African elephant ivory rules adopted last summer and the new policies created at this year’s CITES treaty negotiations that go into effect in 2017.

This webinar will also be recorded and available on-demand online if you are unable to join us on December 7, but please register here.
